Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3gS and iPod 4th Gen Running iOS 6.1 [How-To]

Apple has been making some serious changes in their iDevices to keep the intruders out. The intruders – like Dev Teams, MuscleNerd, PlanetBeing and added more recently, the Evad3rs – have been very successful in trampling over Apple’s expectations and releasing jailbreaks by exploiting iOS’s vulnerabilities. Brutal. Brutal indeed. But still, all of us get to enjoy the best of both worlds due to their ongoing cat-and-mouse games. Apple hitting the Gurus and the Gurus coming back with a bang. It cant get any better then this.

Apple released iOS 6.1 earlier today and it didn’t take much time for the iPhone Dev-Team to hit Apple with a hammer by releasing Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 just a while ago. Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 jailbreaks all pre-A5 iGadgets and is not compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 3 etc. All pre-A5 iDevices running iOS 6.1 can be jailbroken through the latest release of Redsn0w. This is, however, a tethered jailbreak, meaning that every time you switch your iDevice off, you will have to connect it with your PC and run Redsn0w again, in order for it to work. If you are looking for an Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 and the newer iDevices, we suggest you wait till Sunday ;)

Note: Before we begin, we must tell you again that this is a TETHERED JAILBREAK and only compatible with iPhone 4, iPhone 3gS and iPod 4th Gen running iOS 6.1.

To begin jailbreaking your iDevice please follow the steps below:

1. Upgrade your iDevice to iOS 6.1 which is now publicly available for all users or download it to your PC by clicking on the link below.

2. Download Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 for Mac or Windows.

3. Download iOS 6.0 by clicking on the link below. The reason being that Redsn0w can’t recognise iOS 6.1 as yet and we hoping for the Dev-Team to fix this bug with an update.

4. Connect your iDevice to your PC and place it in the DFU mode.

5. Launch Redsn0w and click on Extras –> select IPSW — click on iOS 6 which you downloaded in step 3. Redsn0w should now recognise your IPSW and your device.

6. Head back to the main screen of Redsn0w and hit the Jailbreak button. Make sure you have ticked on the box next to Install Cydia. Redsn0w should now get cracking and after a while your phone/ipod will come to life.

7. After you have successfully jailbroken your iDevice, select the “Autoboot this device when it connects in DFU mode” option.

To Boot in Tethered Mode:

This is a tethered jailbreak, hence, your iDevice needs to be booted in a jailbroken state every time it reboots/switches off. For that, it requires to be connected to the PC using Redsn0w, click on Extras –> select “Just Boot“.

The new untethered jailbreak is going to be released on Sunday hopefully and is expected to work for all iOS devices. We will keep you updated on it. Until then you can enjoy jailbreaking your pre-A5 device with this tutorial.

Download iOS 6 and iOS 6.1 by clicking on this link. The website consists of all iOS firmware downloads and you can download your required iOS by selecting your iDevice on the drop-down menu and hitting download.

Jailbreak iOS 5 Via Redsn0w [How-To]

It’s been less then 24 hours since iOS 5 was released and we already have a jailbreak for you with the courtesy of iH8sn0w who has just announced that the current versions of Redsn0w and sn0wbreeze can jailbreak iOS 5. But we must tell you here that this is a tethered jailbreak. And it supports iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, iPad 1, iPhone3GS, iPhone4 (GSM) and iPhone4 (CDMA).

Things you will need before starting:

Now, Let’s begin!

Step 1: Connect your iDevice with your PC via USB, and open iTunes 10.5 and Restore to iOS 5.0.

Step 2: Open Redsn0w, press on “Extras > Select IPSW” and direct it to iOS 5.0 firmware ipsw file.

Step 3: Select “Install Cydia” and click “Next”. Optionally (if available), you can also select any other option you like.

Step 4: Make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to your PC before you click “Next”.

Step 5: Now, you will be guided on how to enter DFU mode on your iDevice. Quickly hold “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. After few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins. If done right, you will have your iDevice jailbroken in a few minutes.

In a matter of days, an untethered jailbreak is expected to release. We will keep you updated when it does.

UPDATE: Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 has been Released Bringing Custom IPSW Option.

Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 Updated For iOS 5

The iPhone Dev Team has just released an update for Redsn0w, which will allow iOS 5 jailbreakers to bask under the warm sunshine of enhancements and improvements. If you fancy making your own custom RAMDISKS using the -r command line, this is the update for you.

Here are a few updates included in the Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 so you can get a taste of what your in for:

1. Version 0.9.9b4 adds auto-detection support for iOS5. This is needed because iOS4 and iOS5 treats the root partition differently (it’s encrypted in iOS5). Redsn0w will now upload the correct iOS5 kernel by itself, but it’s up to you to determine if it needs to mount using the old or new partition scheme.

2. Redsn0w now also accepts both native and img3-encapsulated versions of files you provide via the -r, -k, and -d command-line options (do redsn0w -h to show all the available options).

However, we must note here (in case you decide to unleash your army of Goblins and Ogres on us) that this is a tethered jailbreak and redsn0w isn’t meant to unlock your iDevice, in case you use a carrier unlock to use your phone.

Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 6 Using Sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 6 On iPhone, iPad, iPod touch For Windows

Apple released iOS 5 Beta 6 to developers for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch prior this week having new updates with bug fixes and performance enhancement features. After releasing iOS 5 Beta 6 the first question that came to users mind was that, would it be possible to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 6 with redsn0w beta because iOS jailbreak was released in Sn0wbreeze’s previous version, which allowed the user the freedom to download from other platforms except Apple Developer’s site, which was against the terms.

Importantly, this is a jailbreak for all devices except for old bootrom iPhone 3GS. iPad 2 is obviously not supported. Sn0wbreeze 2.8b6 also includes the ability to remove UDID verification so that developers can install IOS 5 Beta 6 without the elapsed time counter set by Apple Beta timer.

These are the Following change log:

sn0wbreeze v2.8b6 – Features
* Jailbreaks iOS 5 beta 6.
* Removes UDID Developer check + Beta timer.
* Has the ability to hacktivate.
* Preserves the baseband.
Supported Devices

iPhone 3gS (old bootrom) is untethered. Devices listed below come with a tethered jailbreak.
* iPhone 3GS (new bootrom)
* iPhone 4 (GSM)
* iPhone 4 (CDMA)
* iPod Touch 3G
* iPod Touch 4
* iPad 1G

The whole procedure for the jailbreak is exactly the same as ultimate liberation, just follow our step by step complete instructions posted on our previous post to jailbreak your iPhone, iPhone or iPod touch in IOS 5 Beta 6 with Sn0wbreeze for Windows.
